Open to the sea, Ajaccio fascinates above all by its beautiful bay, once called 'the coral city' in reference to the fishing practiced there.
Today, this pretty town, rich in history and terroir, is tasted as much as it is visited. Napoleon's shadow is present, and we must of course begin with a visit to his birthplace, before continuing to the old town and the citadel. The Fesch Museum is one of the most beautiful in Corsica, and has a great Napoleonic collection.
Discover the charm of the Promenade des Sanguinaires, which is especially magic at sunset, as the path along the sea (factor in an hour and a half for this) enables you to best admire the myriad nearby islands. After your stroll, there is nothing better than a little Corsican pastry, such as chestnut fondant or canistrelli with lemon, which are Ajaccio specialities.
