The Refinery: a bistro in a former opium factory

The peaceful terrace of this bistro, which was originally an opium refinery, is, in fact, today one of the hottest addresses in town.

74 Hai Ba Trug has always been a well-known address in Saigon. Built in 1881 to house the ‘Manufacture d'Opium', the building has today lost none of its lustre. It now houses an authentic bistro with a shaded terrace, and the tranquillity of the place provides a preview of what awaits you at this gourmet address.
Whether for brunch—which is especially prized—lunch, or dinner, the continental cuisine that is served here is homemade, like the pork ribs in apple and endives, grilled salmon, grilled eggplant, crisp risotto balls and pesto sauce, or frozen cheesecake with passion fruit coulis. As for the wine list, which is as generous as the dishes, it pleasantly complements the bistro atmosphere.
