Designed by the architectural firm Lemay & Michaud and formerly run by the chef Louis-François Marcotte, who hosts a TV show, The Local attracts gourmets in its industrial-chic decor of vaulted ceilings, concrete floors, clean lines, and stylish leather chairs.
The current chef, Dylan Baird, masters traditional and contemporary techniques in his open kitchen. Start with an eggplant, apple and zucchini pie, or a foie gras au torchon with cocoa and hazelnut flavours. For main, you cannot go wrong with the braised boar, or the guinea fowl in lavender juice. For more traditional dishes, opt for beef filet mignon served with goat cheese polenta.
To accompany these delights, count on the astutely selected winemenu designed by Elyse Lambert, voted 'Best Sommelier of the Americas' in 2009. Reservations essential.
