The former house of the grandmother of the current owner, Le Babaorum has been a restaurant that has exuded friendliness and good humour for nearly 20 years. The atmosphere is simple and relaxed, but that does not mean that quality suffers.
Pull up a chair at one of the tables set up on the cosy wooden deck, which also houses the bar. The cuisine is a multicultural, harmonious blend of metropolitan and Caribbean flavours. As a starter, choose a fried Camembert, before savouring a delicious, freshly caught fish. Swordfish and ouassous (crayfish) with spicy sauce are highly popular among guests, but remember to leave room for dessert, as the choice is prodigious. Every Thursday evening, music lovers meet up at the Babaorum, which is also famous for its live music.
And one last tip: remember to turn off your cell phone, which is prohibited here. If it does ring, it could cost you a bottle of champagne, undoubtedly accompanied by the gladdened smiles of your neighbours.
