Located on the left bank of the Limmat, this former shipyard area has become a peaceful residential district, still relatively unknown to tourists. Part of the Old Town (Altstadt), it has no shortage of cobbled and colourful streets, charming shops, artisan's studios, and inexpensive restaurants.
Head to Lindenhof hill and its square lined with 90 linden trees, which has a beautiful view of the River Limmat and the Old Town. As the only green area in the district, it is very popular with locals of all ages.
You may come across lovers, kids enjoying the swings and sandbox, and old men playing a game of petanque or giant chess. The stunning views make this well worth the short climb.
