In the heart of Zurich's 2nd district stands a rectangular building showcasing a typical early-20th century style of architecture. It is the city's former main post office, now listed as a national heritage monument. Since Motel One took up residence, 394 rooms have replaced the administrative office space.
The hotel was entirely conceived as a tribute to Switzerland, and most especially Lake Zurich and… chocolate. Its original design is revealed in the bedrooms, with turquoise colours reminding customers of the water element, and browns for the cocoa product. The bar is also draped with the colours of Switzerland's speciality, with milk chocolate or caramel walls. The ceiling above the counter is adorned with what looks like gilded aluminium, the kind that is used to wrap up chocolate bars. Your Swiss stay promises to be a pure delight!
